Bud Bowen will retire as chief executive officer at group purchasing organization Amerinet, St. Louis, effective March 31. Bowen joined an Amerinet predecessor company in 1977 and became the GPO's CEO in 2004. President Todd Ebert will take over leadership of Amerinet. The GPO's board is deciding whether to hire anyone to take on the CEO title, a spokeswoman said. Bowen has served as chairman of the Health Group Purchasing Industry Association and in 2002 testified on behalf of GPOs during Senate hearings probing the industry's business and ethics practices. At deadline, Bowen's age was not available. -- by Joseph Mantone
