Medical histories are set to become less of a mystery for healthcare workers on Canada's Prince Edward Island. A new electronic health-information system was launched in Charlottetown this week. The system, to be developed and implemented by Cerner Corp., is being touted as a single-source computer record that will give doctors, nurses, pharmacists and emergency workers access to patient information.
The new system is expected to take about a year to complete, and will link doctors' offices, hospitals and pharmacies.
