Frank Pinckney will retire later this year after more than 14 years as president and CEO of Greenville (S.C.) Hospital System. Pinckney, 67, notified the board of directors four years ago that he hoped to retire this year after completing several goals, including expanding the system's endowment, increasing partnerships with health educators, strengthening ties with the local community and upgrading the system's facilities, including the campus in Greer, S.C., which will eventually include the system's fourth acute-care hospital. Pinckney spent his entire career in Greenville, working a succession of jobs as the hospital expanded to a multi-hospital system under Robert Toomey, who died in 2001. ... James Scoggin Jr. has been named president of HCA's North Texas Division, replacing William Poteet III, who is retiring. Scoggin, 47, has been executive vice president of Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio, a joint venture between HCA and not-for-profit Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas. ... Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth (Texas) appointed Gregory Haralson as COO. Haralson, 32, replaced Daniela Wallace, who left to become CEO of Las Colinas Medical Center in Irving, Texas. Both are HCA-owned facilities. Most recently, Haralson served as Las Colinas' COO. ... Tom Herron has been named CEO of Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Herron, 54, replaces Larry Kloess, who was promoted to president of HCA's TriStar Health System, which includes Centennial Medical Center. Herron had been CEO of Largo (Fla.) Medical Center for the past decade. ... Deborah Keel has been named CEO of Fountain Valley (Calif.) Regional Hospital, a Tenet Healthcare Corp. facility. Keel, 50, had been interim CEO for the past several months. Prior to that, she was vice president of operations for Tenet California.

Glaser, 43, was partner at Gardner Carton & Douglas in Chicago, a member of its management committee and former chairman of its health law department. ... Thomas Grissom was appointed senior health policy specialist, a new post in the Life Sciences and Government Strategies practices of Foley Hoag, located in Boston and Washington. Grissom, 65, most recently served as director of the Center for Medicare Management at the CMS in Baltimore.
