Sutter Delta Medical Center has plunked down $250,000 for a digital operating suite that it believes will cut the time -- and cost -- of performing minimally invasive procedures and improve patient care.
The Antioch, Calif., hospital is one of many nationwide that have invested in digital operating rooms to make surgeries more efficient and to offer the latest technology in a competitive health care marketplace. Sutter Delta's purchase of Stryker Corp.'s latest i-Suite technology, released in March, makes the hospital among the first to run the digital system on fiber optic cables. Enhanced picture quality will allow Sutter Delta to broaden its minimally invasive surgical services.
