Arlington (Texas) Memorial Hospital plans to build a 64-bed surgical tower for $76 million, the largest one-time construction effort in the hospital's 47-year history. Construction on the six-story tower is scheduled to begin in February, with completion expected in September 2007. The project will boost the hospital's total bed count 17% to 433 and add 200,000 square feet of space. The expansion is part of a 10-year, $1.5 billion growth plan launched by Arlington Memorial's parent, 13-hospital Texas Health Resources. -- by Laura B. Benko
