Pharmaceutical wholesaler AmerisourceBergen said it entered into business alliances with electronic medical records software developer Allscripts and online personal healthcare record-keeper Medem in advance of the January 2006 rollout of the Medicare Part D prescription drug program. AmerisourceBergen is acquiring the rights to distribute licenses for Allscripts products, including its e-prescribing software. It also will offer Medem's iHealthRecord to its provider customers, mostly inpatient facilities, and will help providers meet the medication reconciliation requirements of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, which also go into effect in January 2006.
