Do you know a physician who doesn't think he or she is powerful? I thought so. How about a healthcare executive? Same. That's why our first annual ranking of the 50 Most Powerful Physician-Executives in Healthcare earlier this year was such a hit with readers.
The competition drew more than 1,000 nominations from readers, who cast more than 3,000 votes to determine the final ranking. The top 50 appeared in the July 2005 issue (p. 10) of our sister publication, Modern Physician, and the Aug. 1, 2005, issue of Modern Healthcare (p. 32).
Now, it's time to determine the 50 Most Powerful Physician-Executives in Healthcare for 2006. Like the 2005 competition, the first step is the nomination process. Starting Dec. 12, readers may visit modernhealthcare.com or modernphysician.com to nominate a physician-executive whom they deem worthy of the honor. There are no limits to the number of nominations one person may receive. The nomination deadline is Jan. 13, 2006.
After the nominations are closed, we will place the 100 physician-executives who received the most nominations on a final ballot. Readers then may visit either site to cast their votes. The voting period starts Jan. 23, 2006, and closes Feb. 17. The 50 physician-executives who receive the most votes make the final list, with the ranking determined by number of votes received.
The magazine reserves the right to resolve voting irregularities.
The final ranking will appear in the April 24, 2006 issue of Modern Healthcare and the May 2006 issue of Modern Physician.
