St. David's HealthCare Partnership, Austin, Texas, will acquire 96-bed Georgetown (Texas) Hospital and grant the hospital's parent, Georgetown (Texas) Healthcare System, a minority stake in the partnership, a joint venture of for-profit HCA and not-for-profit St. David's HealthCare System. The deal is expected to close by year-end, said Richard Hammett, the partnership's senior vice president for strategic planning and development. Other terms are being determined and will be disclosed at closing, Hammett said. Adding Georgetown Hospital would give the partnership seven hospitals, all in central Texas. -- by Vince Galloro
