HCA, Nashville, announced plans for $517 million in capital projects over three years in the Houston area, including a new hospital in suburban Pearland, Texas, a heart hospital in Webster, Texas, and various projects at HCA's 10 current Houston-area hospitals. The $105 million Pearland Regional Medical Center is expected to open in 2007. A medical office building already being constructed on the campus is set to open next year. The other large project is a $90 million heart hospital at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, Webster. Texas does not require certificate of need, so the projects require only local building and zoning approvals, an HCA spokeswoman said. -- by Vince Galloro
