DaVita, El Segundo, Calif., said it received the Federal Trade Commission's approval to complete the $3.05 billion acquisition of fellow dialysis provider Gambro Healthcare US, Lakewood, Colo. -- provided DaVita divests 67 facilities within 10 days of the deal and three others within 60 days.
DaVita has a definitive agreement to sell all 70 facilities for $320.5 million to Renal Advantage, Brentwood, Tenn., formerly RenalAmerica. DaVita will add about 500 U.S. dialysis centers in its acquisition of Gambro, for a total of about 1,200. The company will be the second-largest dialysis provider in North America after Fresenius Medical Care, based in Germany.
Fresenius will have 1,560 centers in North America once it completes the $3.5 billion acquisition of Renal Care, Nashville, expected by year-end.
