Trinity Health, Novi, Mich., launched a national PPO to tap the growing market for consumer-driven healthcare. Its new Care Choices PPO is designed for large, self-insured employers looking for a broad provider network to pair with health savings accounts or other account-based benefits plans. The PPO offers access to roughly 95% of the nation's PPO providers. The 46-hospital Trinity system has operated a fully insured HMO and statewide PPO through its Farmington, Mich.-based Care Choices subsidiary since 1986. It has about 149,000 members. The addition of a PPO will make Care Choices a more attractive option for multiregional employers that want to contract with only one insurer for all their coverage needs, officials said. -- by Laura B.
