Johnson Controls, Milwaukee, a leader in facilities management and control, will acquire York (Pa.) International Corp., a supplier of heating and cooling equipment, for $3.2 billion. The deal is expected to close in December and requires regulatory approvals. York has estimated sales of nearly $5 billion and will become part of the nearly $6 billion Controls Group of Johnson Controls, thus nearly doubling Johnson Controls' position in the $200 billion global building-environments industry, officials said. Johnson Controls' fiscal 2005 sales from operations, including its automotive seating, interiors and battery businesses, are forecast at nearly $28 billion. -- by Cinda Becker
