West Tennessee Healthcare, Jackson, promoted James Dockins to CEO of the system's flagship hospital, Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, as the system takes another step in the succession planning to replace President and CEO Jim Moss, who plans to retire in 2008. The hospital CEO job is a new position created as part of the transition, says system spokeswoman Jan Boud. Dockins, 45, was named executive vice president of the system 21/2 years ago. ... HCA's Ocala (Fla.) Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital in Ocala appointed Garry Karsner president and CEO. Karsner, 58, succeeds James Wood, who now holds the same post at another HCA facility, Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville. ... Robert Perry has been named president and CEO of St. Clare's Hospital, Schenectady, N.Y. Perry, 58, replaces Paul Chodkowski, who left to become administrator of St. Anthony's Summit Medical Center, Frisco, Colo. Perry had been executive director and CEO of Temple University Health System in Philadelphia. ... Sean Barden joined Lake Forest (Ill.) Hospital as vice president and CFO. Barden, 45, replaces Jim Wuellner, who was appointed CFO at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minn. Barden most recently served as corporate controller for Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, N.C. ... Forum Health Trumbell Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio, appointed Ryan Hickey vice president of operations. Hickey, 33, replaces Karl Kuppler, who resigned. Hickey most recently served as director of cancer services for the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center's Markey Cancer Center in Lexington. ... Bruce Bartoo joined the Sisters of Mercy Health System, based in Chesterfield, Mo., as chief development officer. Bartoo, 41, replaces Mark Stencer. Bartoo previously served as chief development officer for ProMedica Health System's central region in Toledo, Ohio.
John Quille resigned his post as the senior accounting officer at HealthSouth Corp. to pursue other opportunities. John Workman, HealthSouth's executive vice president and CFO, will add the role of principal accounting officer, a post that Quille, 55, had held since February 2004. The company says it doesn't expect Quille's resignation to affect the timing of its scheduled filing of annual reports for 2004 and 2005.
