Premier Senior Vice President Bob Hamon -- a lead executive for the alliance's multibillion-dollar group purchasing program -- resigned effective Sept. 2 to pursue an interest in real estate. Hamon joined Premier in 1998 and assumed his current role in 2003. He reports to Susan DeVore, president of Premier Purchasing Partners. In a memo to purchasing committee members, DeVore said Hamon played "a key part" in the program and will work over the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition. She indicated there had been no decision on a replacement. The group purchasing unit negotiates supply contracts on behalf of Premier's 1,500 hospital members and manages a portfolio of contracts representing more than $17 billion in annual sales, according to Premier's Web site. Prior to joining Premier, Hamon was administrative director of Presbyterian Laboratory Services, Charlotte, N.C. -- by Cinda Becker
