MedAssets, Alpharetta, Ga., continued to expand in information technology and consulting, completing its acquisition of Med-Data Management, which develops healthcare financial software tools. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Privately held MedAssets, with 22,000 provider customers, is the third-largest healthcare group purchasing organization based on 2003 sales volume, according to Modern Healthcare's 2004 Group Purchasing Survey. Med-Data, Mandeville, La., which also was privately held, said it had 200 customers for consulting services and software products.
