The California Nurses Association is again taking Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's administration to court over nurse-to-patient ratios. The union is suing California's Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Health Services, which in July re-filed a regulation to relax certain ratios, according to the CNA. A judge ruled in June that relaxing those ratios was illegal.
At a hearing scheduled today before Sacramento Superior Court Judge Judy Hersher, the union is seeking a restraining order to halt the state's re-filed regulations. "Everything is sort of a deja vu all over again," said CNA spokesman Chuck Idelson. California's DHS did not return a call seeking comment before deadline.
