The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations disclosed what it called a "production glitch" in software that helps guide healthcare providers through the accreditation process. The software, Accreditation Manager Plus, has been marketed for about two years by the JCAHO's for-profit subsidiary, Joint Commission Resources. The bug potentially affects more than 1,300 hospitals and more than 450 outpatient facilities, behavioral health facilities, home-care agencies and nursing homes. Joint Commission Resources posted a subprogram to repair the problem on its Web site. The patch, at jcrinc.com, takes only a few minutes, JCAHO spokesman Mark Forstneger. -- by Joseph Conn
