The Federal Trade Commission made a second request for information on the planned $3.5 billion acquisition of Renal Care Group, Nashville, by Fresenius Medical Care of Germany. The move extended the required antitrust waiting period for the deal to 30 days after the companies comply with the second request. Renal Care and Fresenius said they had anticipated a second request when the deal was announced in May and were cooperating with the FTC, but they didn't elaborate on the request. Fresenius said it hopes to complete the acquisition before year-end. Fresenius has roughly 1,630 dialysis centers worldwide. Renal Care provides dialysis services at about 445 outpatient centers and 210 hospitals in the U.S. -- by Joseph Mantone
