The jury in Richard Scrushy's criminal trial completed its seventh day of deliberations without reaching a verdict. Jurors are scheduled to meet again Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Birmingham, Ala. Since beginning deliberations, the jury has sent three notes to U.S. District Judge Karon Bowdre saying it was unable to reach a unanimous decision on an important conspiracy charge and seeking clarification. Bowdre told the jury it could consider other counts against Scrushy and return to the conspiracy charge later. The government has accused Scrushy, founder and former chief executive officer at HealthSouth Corp., of playing a major role in some $2.6 billion in accounting fraud at the company. -- by Joseph Mantone
