Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, Pa., won unanimous approval from township officials to proceed with a $181.5 million expansion announced in June 2004. The project will add 151 beds to the 536-bed hospital outside Allentown, Pa., additional operating rooms, more radiology space and an expanded burn-care center. It includes a seven-story patient-care building with all private rooms and a medical office building with its own parking deck. Construction has begun on the parking deck and should get under way on the biggest portion of the project in late summer, with completion by the end of 2007, a hospital spokesman said. -- by Cinda Becker
