Humana, Louisville, Ky., announced that David Jones Jr. replaced his father as board chairman, effective immediately. As previously planned, the senior David Jones, 73, retired at the close of the health insurer's annual shareholder meeting, ending nearly 44 years at the helm of the company he co-founded in 1961. Jones Jr., 47, has been vice chairman of Humana's board since 1996 and is chairman and managing director of Chrysalis Ventures, a Louisville-based venture capital firm he founded in 1993. Humana is one of nation's largest publicly traded health insurers, with $13.1 billion in annual revenue and 7 million members in 15 states and Puerto Rico. -- by Laura B. Benko
