Judith Pelham, the retired and founding president and CEO of Trinity Health, Novi, Mich., has been nominated for a three-year term on the board of Hospira, the hospital products manufacturer that was spun off from Abbott Laboratories in April 2004.
Pelham, 59, will stand for election at Hospira's shareholders meeting on May 9.
She also serves on the boards of Amgen and the Healthcare Research and Development Institute. Pelham was president and CEO of Mercy Health Services from 1993 until 2000 when it merged with Holy Cross Health System to become Trinity.
Hers is the latest in a series of appointments of former top hospital executives to the boards of healthcare service companies (March 21, p. 14).
