LifePoint Hospitals and Province Healthcare Co. said each company's shareholders have approved LifePoint's $1.7 billion acquisition of Province, which was announced last year. The companies, both based in Brentwood, Tenn., said all regulatory approvals have been granted, and the deal is now expected to close April 15. That is the first day after the mandatory 20-day waiting period for closing the deal after both companies issued tender offers this month to repurchase some of their debt, LifePoint said. The deal is the biggest consolidation of investor-owned companies since Triad Hospitals, Plano, Texas, acquired the former Quorum Health Group, Brentwood, four years ago, and will boost the size of LifePoint to 51 hospitals from 30 hospitals.
