RoundTable Healthcare Partners closed its second private-equity fund with $500 million in equity capital, exceeding its initial target of $400 million, the Lake Forest, Ill., company said. RoundTable's investment managers focus on medical-device companies, small pharmaceutical companies and other established healthcare businesses, according to a company statement. The company currently favors small generic drug companies because it sees the healthcare industry headed in that direction as a result of the focus on cutting healthcare costs, said Lester Knight, managing partner. RoundTable's first private equity fund closed in March of 2002 with $400 million. -- by Paul Barr
