Modern Physician is pleased to announce the winners of this year's physician executive awards, co-sponsored by the American College of Physician Executives.
Gary Yates, M.D., chief medical officer of Sentara Healthcare in Norfolk, Va., is the recipient of the 2005 Physician Executive Award of Excellence. Yates, 48, oversees 2,500 physicians on staff at Sentara.
Meanwhile, John Stobo, M.D., president of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, is the recipient of the 2005 Physician Executive Award for Lifetime Achievement. Stobo, 63, oversees a medical staff of nearly 800 physicians.
Yates and Stobo will be profiled in the April issue of Modern Physician, the quarterly magazine published by Modern Healthcare. Yates and Stobo also will be honored at the ACPE's annual spring institute to be held May 20-25 in Boston.
