Consejo de Latinos Unidos sued Florida Hospital, Orlando, in Orange County Circuit Court on behalf of 35 uninsured patients who alleged that the seven-hospital system set unfair prices. The advocacy group for people of Latin-American descent was planning to file additional suits against other Florida hospitals, said K.B. Forbes, the group's leader. Richard Morrison, vice president of government relations at Florida Hospital, said, "I don't know how anybody can allege we don't have favorable policies to the uninsured." Morrison said the system offers sliding-scale discounts to uninsured patients earning up to 400% of the poverty level. -- by Paul Barr
