A former manager for Cardinal Health pleaded innocent to charges that he billed a client, Jackson Health System, Miami, for about $6,400 for personal fishing trips, meals and outings to a Florida strip club. Kevin Reece, 39, of Houston, was released without bail, authorities said. Cardinal previously reimbursed Jackson $45,000 for all of Reece's billed expenses. "Kevin Reece did not commit a crime" and will fight the charges, said Reece's attorney, Brian Tannebaum of Miami. A trial has not been scheduled. The charges are the first in an ongoing investigation into Cardinal's contract with Jackson by the Miami-Dade County inspector general's office and the Miami-Dade state attorney's office. Investigators said they expect additional arrests. Reece no longer works for Cardinal, and Cardinal's pharmacy management contract with Jackson, worth $2.6 million annually, was canceled in November because of the investigation. In October, Jackson said it may have overpaid the Dublin, Ohio-based distributor by as much as $170,000 a month. -- by Melanie Evans
