Outgoing New Jersey Health and Senior Services Commissioner Clifton Lacy was tapped as the new president and CEO of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, N.J., effective in January. Lacy, 52, will succeed Harvey Holzberg, who is retiring from the hospital but will remain as president and CEO of parent Robert Wood Johnson Health System. Lacy is a board-certified physician in internal medicine and cardiology and was a professor at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School before taking the state job in 2002. ... University Health System, San Antonio, named George Hernandez Jr. its new president and CEO, effective Jan. 1. Hernandez will take over from Jeff Turner, who announced in August that he would be leaving the county-owned system. Hernandez, 52, will be the hospital's first Hispanic CEO. He currently is executive vice president and second-in-command at University Health, the primary teaching hospital for the University of Texas Health Science Center. ... Karen Davis has been named to the board of Geisinger Health System Foundation, Danville, Pa. Davis, 62, is president of the Commonwealth Fund, a New York-based philanthropy engaged in independent research on health and social policy issues. ... HealthSouth Corp., Birmingham, Ala., named Yvonne Curl, 49, to its board. The company now has 12 directors on its board-including, for now, former Chairman and CEO Richard Scrushy-and could add one more. Curl is also a director with Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. and Charming Shoppes, a retail apparel chain. ... Sharon Riley, 44, is the new president of St. Paul and Zale Lipshy University Hospitals, Dallas. She is also vice president of university hospitals at the University of Texas Southwestern, Dallas. She had served as COO of Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, Md. Riley replaces Don Smithburg who resigned. ... Mark Sevco, 37, has been named president of UPMC Braddock (Pa.). He replaces Margaret Priselac, who resigned to pursue other opportunities. Sevco has been executive director of the department of pediatrics, University of Pittsburgh Physicians. ... Clay Dunaway has returned to Louisiana State University's Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Dunaway, who worked at the hospital for 11 years as associate administrator and CFO, becomes administrator of the hospital after serving in the post on an interim basis for four months. He succeeds Roxanne Townsend, who took a job in the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. After leaving Earl K. Long, Dunaway served as administrator of another LSU hospital, W.O. Moss Regional Medical Center in Lake Charles, La. ... Peter Marmerstein is the new CEO of CJW Medical Center, Richmond, Va. Marmerstein, 53, replaced Margaret Lewis, who was promoted to president of parent HCA's Central Atlantic Division. Marmerstein had been CEO of St. Mary's Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Fla. ... Marc Napp, 45, has been named vice president of medical affairs for Lenox Hill Hospital and Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, New York. He had served as vice president of medical affairs for Hudson Valley Hospital Center, Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. Napp replaces Walter Ettinger Jr., who was vice president of medical affairs and medical education at the facilities.

Robert Dawson was named president and CEO of Coventry Health Care's two Pennsylvania health plans, HealthAmerica and HealthAssurance, effective Jan. 1. He replaces Francis Soistman Jr., who was promoted to Coventry's executive vice president of health plan operations. Dawson, who joined Coventry this year as executive vice president of central Pennsylvania, was previously executive director of business development for 800-physician University of Miami Medical Group. HealthAmerica, Harrisburg, and HealthAssurance, Pittsburgh, cover a total of 735,000 members in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
