Specialty outpatient providers, such as specialty physicians and diagnostic imaging centers, are showing signs of optimism regarding their industry, according to a new survey by CIT Healthcare Finance, a unit of CIT Group, Livingston, N.J.
Some 44% of providers surveyed said they expected their net earnings this year to be greater than in 2003, and 35% expected net earnings to be about the same. Only 17% expected net earnings to decrease. Survey results also indicated that capital spending is on the rise, with 56% of participating providers expecting to move or renovate facilities within five years. Surveyed providers included ambulatory-care centers, specialty physician practices, and diagnostic imaging, dialysis, oncology and diagnostic laboratories.
