Specialty outpatient providers, such as specialty physicians, diagnostic imaging centers, dialysis centers and laboratories, are showing signs of optimism regarding their industry, according to a survey by CIT Healthcare Finance, a unit of CIT, Livingston, N.J.
Some 44% of providers surveyed said they expected their net earnings this year to be greater than net earnings in 2003 and 35% expected net earnings to be about the same. Only 17% expected net earnings to decrease this year, according to the survey.
Survey results also indicated that capital spending is on the rise, with 56% of participating providers expecting to move or renovate facilities within five years and 19% planning such a project within a year.
