Eighty-three of 109 eligible hospitals participated, up from 51 in the first report, released in March. Data on treatments for congestive heart failure, heart attacks and pneumonia were collected from patient records from Oct. 1, 2003, to March 31, 2004. Hospitals provided recommended care in 91% of heart attack cases, 82% of congestive heart failure cases and 77% of pneumonia cases. In the March report, the figures were 89%, 79% and 74%, respectively. Read the latest report. -- by Joseph Mantone
