Vanguard Health Systems, Nashville, reported first-quarter revenue of $493.7 million for the three months ended Sept. 30, up 20.4% from the year-ago quarter. An item in Thursday's Daily Dose reported the company's 2003 first-quarter revenue, $409.9 million, as the current quarter revenue. In addition, the losses reported included preferred dividends of $1 million in each period. Vanguard's bottom line (without preferred dividends) was a loss of $110.1 million in the 2004 quarter compared with a net gain of $6.3 million in the year-ago quarter.
