Six-hospital University of Maryland Medical System, Baltimore, named Jeffrey Rivest as president and chief executive officer of its 650-bed University of Maryland Medical Center, effective Nov. 1. Rivest succeeds John Ashworth, who was promoted to senior vice president of network development at the medical system and associate dean of the medical school. Rivest held leadership roles at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for 16 years and most recently has been its executive vice president and chief operating officer. -- by Tony Fong
