Three Bethesda, Md., hospitals formed an alliance to coordinate their responses to man-made and natural disasters. They are 261-bed Suburban Hospital Healthcare System, 240-bed National Naval Medical Center and 267-bed Warren G. Magnuson Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health. The partnership's goals include assuring rapid responses to emergencies; streamlining the integration of the hospitals' response plans with other community, regional and national emergency plans; and becoming a partnership model for other hospitals. -- by Tony Fong
