Methodist Hospital, Houston, and University of Houston System signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on healthcare research and education. A final affiliation could be signed by year-end. Terms have yet to be worked out. An affiliation would formalize existing joint programs and create the opportunity for new ones. Regardless of whether an affiliation is signed, University of Houston said it will begin offering its executive MBA program at Methodist Hospital. The program will be available to any of the more than 40 institutions on the Texas Medical Center campus, where Methodist is based. The affiliation would not dislodge existing relationships with other institutions, according to a news release. Methodist also is affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. -- by Paul Barr
