The Lloyd Noland Foundation has filed a lawsuit in Jefferson County (Ala.) Circuit Court against HealthSouth Corp., Birmingham, Ala., claiming the chain hasn't lived up to obligations involving HealthSouth Metro West, a Fairfield, Ala.-based hospital the foundation formerly owned. The lawsuit seeks $115 million or a judgment that would require HealthSouth to live up to the commitments of the agreement, which include discounting medical services for Metro West retirees. The hospital is slated to close Sept. 2. A HealthSouth spokesman said the lawsuit has no merit. -- by Joseph Mantone
