George Gray will take over management of the Department of Veterans Affairs' hospital network in Florida, south Georgia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands as of Sept. 5. Gray, 58, will replace Elwood Headley, who was reassigned after the VA scrapped a multimillion-dollar computer system being developed at a Florida VA medical center, deciding the project could not be salvaged. The VA had spent $265 million of the project's $472 million budget. Currently, Gray is medical center director of the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System. -- by Tony Fong
