The president of a Columbus, Ohio, clinic was sentenced to four years of probation, including four months of house arrest, in Franklin County Common Pleas Court for fraud, Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro said. Joyce Beilharz, president of United Medical Corp., also is required to attend 12-step meetings to share her story with others, complete a year of community service and pay $30,000 in fines. United Medical also was fined $30,000. The clinic and Beilharz pleaded guilty in May to Workers' Compensation fraud, Medicaid fraud and aggravated theft. Beilharz paid $3.5 million in restitution and $110,000 to cover the cost of the fraud investigation as part of her plea agreement. From 2001 to 2003, the company submitted claims for medical services that weren't provided and for more expensive exams than were actually performed, Petro said. -- by the Associated Press
