Leslie Davis has been appointed president of Magee-Womens Hospital, Pittsburgh, effective Sept. 1. She replaces Irma Goertzen, who retired. Davis, 45, was president of Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia. ... Peter Booth is retiring from Goodall Hospital in Sanford, Maine, after nearly 30 years running the 161-bed facility. Hospital Treasurer Dale Shaw and Vice President of Patient Care Dolores Hopper will assume Booth's duties until a permanent replacement can be found. Goodall officials plan to have a new CEO in place by January 2005. ... Sinai Health System in Chicago has named Alan Channing its president and CEO. Channing, 59, succeeds Benn Greenspan, 57, who plans to teach public health and provide consulting services to Sinai. Greenspan was profiled as part of a June 14 Modern Healthcare cover story on CEOs taking early retirement (p. 6). Channing had been CEO of St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland. ... Charles Kinney has been named president and CEO of Westerly (R.I.) Hospital. Kinney, 57, had been president and CEO of United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, N.Y. He replaces Michael Lally, who resigned after 15 years in that position in November 2003. ... C. David Huffstutler, 46, has been named CEO of Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, Houston. He had been CEO of HCA's Kingwood (Texas) Medical Center. He replaces Dan Martin, who is now vice president of community initiatives for parent Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. ... Peter Karl has been named executive vice president and COO of two-hospital Eastern Connecticut Health Network, Manchester. Karl, 43, replaces Edward Moore, who left to pursue other opportunities. Karl had been senior vice president of operations at St. Joseph's Healthcare System in Paterson, N.J.
Sarah Berk has been named the American Hospital Association's director of grass-roots advocacy in the federal relations group, replacing Al Jackson who departed in May under unexplained circumstances. Berk, 28, had been senior communications adviser for the Senate Republican Conference. She is a graduate of Hanover College in Indiana. ... The Emergency Nurses Association, Chicago, has named David Westman, 45, executive director of the 24,000-member organization, replacing Cheryl Smart. Westman had been managing director of strategy and human capital at consulting firm RSM McGladrey, Schaumburg, Ill.
Michael Lindberg has been named CEO of MCMC, a Boston-based provider of independent medical reviews, examinations and related services. Lindberg, 43, had been executive vice president of National Healthcare Resources. Until Lindberg's hire, the company had been run by Meridian Venture Partners, a venture capital firm.
