HCA-owned Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane, W.Va., said Chief Executive Officer Frank Molinaro resigned his position effective Monday for personal reasons.
In a statement, Margaret Lewis, president of HCA's Central Atlantic division, said Ronda Moore, Putnam's chief operating and chief financial officer, would serve as interim CEO.
Molinaro did not immediately return a phone message left at his home. Moore also could not be reached by deadline.
A local newspaper report cited by the Associated Press said the hospital faces a lawsuit filed by at least 40 former patients who allege that the hospital hired an orthopedic surgeon who was not board-certified and who, according to the plaintiffs, botched their surgeries.
