Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, Ga., will shut its doors July 9 unless county commissioners work out a deal to sell the critical-access hospital to a private company, officials said. Margie Wilkosz, an administrative assistant at the hospital, which has 25 acute-care beds and 29 skilled-nursing beds, said commissioners have received bids from two hospital companies -- Pacer Health Corp., Miami, which operates one rural hospital in Louisiana; and Resurgence Health Group, Sugar Hill, Ga., which operates four rural facilities, including two in Georgia. Greene County commissioners voted last month to close Boswell Memorial due to management problems and mounting debt. "The decision will be made this week on whether either one of those companies is going to buy it," Wilkosz said. "If that falls through and nothing else comes up, we will be closing our doors July 9." -- by Michael Romano
