The Health Care District of Palm Beach County (Fla.) named Daniel Aranda as chief executive officer of 65-bed Glades General Hospital, Belle Glade. Aranda, an assistant administrator at St. Mary's Medical Center, West Palm Beach, takes over a money-losing facility that the district bought back in May from Province Healthcare Corp., Brentwood, Tenn. Province purchased the hospital in 1999 for about $15 million. A Glades General spokeswoman said the district paid $1.3 million to acquire it. Aranda, who has 16 years' experience in healthcare administration, is expected to begin work at Glades General in late July. In a news release, Glades General Chairman Bryan Cross said Aranda has experience in "leading hospitals with challenging market dynamics." -- by Michael Romano
