Three pending hospital sales involving investor-owned hospital chains have closed this week. Province Healthcare Co., Brentwood, Tenn., completed its $150 million deal to acquire a 40-year lease on 240-bed Memorial Medical Center, Las Cruces, N.M., from the city of Las Cruces and Dona Ana County. SunLink Health Systems, Atlanta, said it completed the sale of 26-bed Mountainside Medical Center, Jasper, Ga., to Piedmont Medical Center, Atlanta, for $40 million. SunLink said its net sales proceeds of $35 million were used to pay down debt. Universal Health Services, King of Prussia, Pa., completed its sale of two California hospitals for $32.5 million to Catholic Healthcare West, San Francisco. Universal had acquired the hospitals -- 48-bed French Hospital Medical Center, San Luis Obispo, and 44-bed Arroyo Grande (Calif.) Community Hospital -- in its $120.6 million purchase of three-hospital Vista Health System, Corona, Calif., last year. -- by Vince Galloro
