Employment at U.S. hospitals increased by .09%, or 3,700 people, in April compared with March, reaching just under 4.3 million, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Compared with April 2003, hospital employment was 1.3% higher. Total employment in the healthcare and social-assistance industries reached 14.1 million people in April, up 0.2% from March.
