Wine will assist in a process through which his responsibilities will be transferred to several other current executives. ... Sister Ruth Marie Nickerson, 61, has announced that she will soon be leaving her longtime position as president and CEO of St. Agnes Medical Center, Fresno, Calif. She plans to take a yearlong sabbatical of ministry, study and travel before making any future ministry plans. A national search is under way for a successor. ... William Dwyer has been appointed to the new position of vice president of strategic relationships at Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner Corp. In his new role, Dwyer, 51, will work with senior-level healthcare executives and will attempt to provide insight on emerging industry trends and issues. Before joining Cerner, Dwyer was a divisional vice president of strategic marketing at Abbott Laboratories. He also is a frequent speaker on medical technology issues and serves as a board member on the National Committee for Quality Health Care. ... VHA, Irving, Texas, has named Joseph Zaccagnino, president and CEO of Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health System, as its new board chairman. James Varnum, president of Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Alliance in Lebanon, N.H., ended his term as chairman but will remain on the VHA board as a director. ... Marie Sinioris has been promoted to president and CEO of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership, Chicago. Sinioris, 60, replaces Gail Warden, the former chief of Henry Ford Health System, who will remain chairman of the NCHL.
