AmeriNet, St. Louis, has bought the group purchasing assets of Joint Purchasing Corp., New York, which is exiting that line of its business. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. Not-for-profit Joint Purchasing serves more than 1,100 healthcare providers. Besides group purchasing, it provides other services to health systems and runs a subsidiary primarily focused on alternate-site providers. The purchase became effective April 23 with the approval of New York regulators. AmeriNet officials said the deal broadens AmeriNet's scope of contracts, services and support. Joint Purchasing officials said their company will be able to focus on its work with not-for-profit systems while giving members an opportunity to participate in a broader contract portfolio.
