Patrick Dupuis has been appointed vice president and CFO of BJC HealthCare, St. Louis, effective May 10. Dupuis, 41, replaces Edward Stiften, who left to become senior vice president and CFO of Express Scripts, St. Louis. Dupuis is the latest in a recent spate of former General Electric Co. executives to join the healthcare industry. He had most recently been vice president and general manager of global business processes for GE Medical Systems, based in Milwaukee. At 12-hospital BJC, Dupuis will be responsible for finance, managed-care contracting, material services and performance and financial analysis. Dupuis, who was born and raised near Lyon, France, holds a degree in business from the Ecole de Management de Lyon. ... Frank Byrne has been named president of St. Marys Hospital Medical Center in Madison, Wis. Byrne, a physician, most recently was executive vice president of Parkview Health and president of Parkview Health Foundations, Fort Wayne, Ind. He is a member of the board of directors of the American College of Physician Executives. ... Chuck Clapton has been named chief counsel of health for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, replacing Patrick Morrisey, who left this year to join Sidley Austin Brown & Wood, a Washington law firm. Clapton, 35, will manage all healthcare issues within the committee's jurisdiction, including Medicaid and Medicare. Clapton joined the committee in 1999. He is also a former legislative aide to Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.). ... T. Anthony Denton is the new COO and senior associate director of University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers, Ann Arbor. Denton, 46, replaces Lloyd Jacobs, who became president of the Medical College of Ohio in November 2003. During his 23-year career at UMHS, Denton has served in several management posts, most recently as associate hospital administrator and associate hospital director for operations at the system's University Hospital.
