Michael Collins, longtime president and chief executive officer at six-hospital Caritas Christi Health Care, Boston, has left his post, the Archdiocese of Boston said amid reports that Collins was asked to resign. The system and archdiocese would neither confirm nor deny the reports. Collins, 48, joined Caritas Christi in 1986 as vice president for government and medical affairs. He became CEO in 1994. Emmett Murphy has been named interim president and CEO. In a news release, Archbishop Sean O'Malley credited Collins with "substantial progress in helping to build the system into what it is today." -- by Patrick Reilly
