Horizon Health Corp., Lewisville, Texas, said it purchased the assets of an 80-bed psychiatric hospital in Plymouth, Ind., from Ardent Health Services, Nashville, for undisclosed terms. Northern Indiana Hospital generated $9.2 million in revenue in 2003, Horizon said. The deal leaves Ardent with seven acute-care and 20 psychiatric hospitals.
In other acquisitions news, Medica, Minnetonka, Minn., acquired the Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota operations of Patient Choice Healthcare, a tiered-network health plan, for undisclosed terms. A Medica spokesman said, "It's a model that has been well-received. We want to grow that business." Meanwhile, Passport Health Communications, Franklin, Tenn., bought WellPoint's United Wisconsin Proservices, Milwaukee, for undisclosed terms.
