Health Alliance Plan, Detroit, named longtime HAP executive Francine Parker as its new president and CEO, while the health plan's parent, Henry Ford Health System, appointed Parker its senior vice president of insurance/purchaser relations. Both appointments are effective immediately.
Parker, 49, joined HAP in 1978 and was named senior vice president and COO in 1997. She has been serving as interim president and CEO of the 540,000-member health plan since its previous chief, Cleve Killingsworth Jr., left in February for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Killingsworth had been a top candidate to replace retiring Henry Ford President and CEO Gail Warden last year, but the job went to Nancy Schlichting.
Parker said her top priority is to continue working on the quality initiatives the health plan has started and with vendors to reduce costs.
